Jessie James achieved a reasonable degree of success in the form of Wanted being able to make it into the Top 40 charts. Decker was always a country singer, yet the album was produced and promoted with pop audiences in mind. Decker battled with the label to gain more control over her music after two of her singles failed. The album she released next, Boys in the Summer, was more country oriented. Decker released her second album under two different titles: Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy. Mercury put it on hold after the first three singles failed to make it onto the country charts. Decker then was let be released from her contract.
